Ross was nominated in recognition of his outstanding contribution to sport, mentoring, and pastoral care at the school
Alongside his teaching in the classroom and on the sports pitches, Ross leads the Male Mentoring Programme, which has made a significant and positive impact on the school community over the past two years.
Reflecting on the evening, Ross said: “Last night was a real moment of personal pride for me. I attended the event on my own, not knowing anyone and not really sure why I was there.”
He explained that he knew he had been invited in recognition of his work in male mentoring over the past two years but was surprised to be called forward to receive the award.
“It was a real surprise when I was called up to receive an award for contribution to teaching in the Welsh Independent sector through my work at St David’s College,” he said.
Ross added that he allowed himself to enjoy the moment and feel proud of what he had achieved, before looking ahead to the future.
“I’ll keep on pushing and see what can be achieved mentoring our students,” he said.
The award recognises not only Ross’s dedication to teaching, but also his commitment to supporting, guiding and inspiring students. His work with the Male Mentoring Programme reflects the College’s commitment to the wellbeing and personal development of every pupil.
All of us at St David’s College is incredibly proud of Ross and this thoroughly deserved recognition. We thank him for all he does for our students and the wider school community and look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of his work.
