We don’t employ cooks, we have trained Chefs in our kitchens, producing food that would be the envy of many restaurants across the country.
Our talented catering team is in charge of creating diverse and interesting menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, as well as delivering catering to support the College's wide range of events.
The success of our food is undoubtedly down to our team headed by the Catering Manager and Head Chef along with their team of experienced kitchen staff. All of whom are professionals with many years of experience. Both our Catering Manager and Head Chef have years of experience ahead of working at St David’s with time spent in The Grosvenor in Chester and Chelsea Barracks in London on their respective CVs.
The Catering Manager’s philosophy is “good food, locally sourced” Our students enjoy incredible dishes, whilst at the same time supporting local suppliers. This approach also helps us to reduce the “food miles” that St David’s creates and helps us to lower our overall Carbon Footprint.
The catering team interact with our pupils as often as three times a day within the full boarding school environment. They have a great responsibility in not only fueling their bodies but their minds as well. Our pupils all eat together in our dining hall which gives everyone the chance to get to know each other and bond over sumptuous dishes.
A range of cooked breakfast and cereals are available every morning during term time.
For lunch, pupils and staff can choose from a selection of hot main dishes, a salad bar, with jacket potatoes and a soup of the day. There is always a vegan option as well as decadent desserts to finish the meal. Dinner follows the same pattern as the lunchtime menu with themed evening meals to celebrate different festivals or events throughout the year.
The team prepares all dishes on site and special dietary requirements are accommodated.
