International Students

St David’s College community is made up of a rich and diverse mix of pupils from Wales, the rest of the UK, and many countries around the world.

This diversity reflects British society today and enables us to offer a British education with an international outlook. It helps all of our pupils to become confident, valuable citizens of an increasingly globalised world.
International pupils can join us from age 9 through to Sixth Form. They play a full role in every aspect of the school and the St David’s ‘family’, developing life-long friendships with peers from many countries, cultures and backgrounds.

International applications

International boarders can join St David’s College from Year 5 (aged 9) to Sixth Form.

If you live overseas and wish to apply for a place at St David’s College, your child will need to:

  • Provide supporting references and school reports
  • Undertake an interview either at St David’s College or via Zoom or Skype with a member of staff. Although we offer outstanding EAL, we do require a basic level of English to cope with the curriculum.

In some instances, you will need to provide a Tier 4 Student Visa for your child. Once a place has been formally accepted, St David’s College is happy to provide a Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS) to enable you to do this. Applicants must apply for their Tier 4 via Sable Education.

Sable is our trusted partner for all child student and UK Immigration applications. The company has been providing immigration services for over 30 years and is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner. We have retained Sable’s services to ensure all UK immigration applications are prepared in compliance with UKVI requirements.

English as an Alternative Language (EAL)

The school’s specialist EAL department ensures all international pupils are given the necessary English language tuition required to enable them to make significant improvements in written and spoken English and to support them through their studies. This support is included in the fees.

Guardians and host families

It is a condition of accepting an offer at the school that all international pupils have a guardian who is based within the UK. Many pupils use Guardianship companies that are based in all areas of the UK. We do work closely with a local Guardianship company that is registered with AEGIS and is working towards gaining the Boarding School Association’s Certified Guardian Scheme.
