From the U13s to the 1st XV, and with the girls’ team proudly represented for the first time under the inspiring leadership of Mrs Kavanagh, the night was a vibrant celebration of courage, community, and character
The awards were as eclectic as our players, from ‘Hairdo Hit’ and ‘Champagne Moment’ to Players’ Player and Most Improved. Each one told a story of grit, growth, or glorious chaos on the field.
One of the most emotional moments came as we said goodbye to our leaving players, many of whom have spent years in the heart of the PE department. Each was gifted a personalised cartoon illustration, a nod to their journey, their identity, and their place in our rugby family.
A brand-new Squad of the Year award celebrated 23 standout pupils from across all year groups. From Year 9’s Freddie pulling the strings at 10, to Beau Hardman’s dynamism at 9, this was a team formed not just by position, but by passion, determination, and team spirit.
One parent described it best on the night: "It's like BBC Sports Personality of the Year.....but better!”
The evening finished with a charity raffle and auction, raising funds for future girls’ and boys’ rugby tours, ensuring that next year’s stories will be just as powerful.
This night wasn’t just about trophies. It was about recognising the bold, brave, and brilliant young people who make rugby such an integral part of life at St David’s College.
Thanks to Dan, Ross and Jess, for organising such an emotional and memorable night.
