Our Under-13 girls’ team – made up of Maddie, Lottie, Grace, Alana, Serena, Hollie, Gwen, and Isobel – played their hearts out and brought home third place in Wales

With only 13 girls in the entire year group to choose from, this is an absolutely phenomenal achievement. Every player gave it their all, working tirelessly for each other and showing true team spirit. Cheered on by proud and passionate parents from the balcony, their performance was nothing short of inspirational.

Our Under-15s faced a tough challenge with a smaller squad, but they battled bravely to finish fourth. The game was tightly contested until the end of the second quarter when fatigue began to show, but their determination never wavered. Their grit, perseverance, and refusal to give up truly embodied the spirit of our school.

These performances are a shining example of what our curriculum model in PE is all about – developing young people who are confident decision-makers, inventive problem-solvers, and resilient in the face of challenges. What we saw on the court was more than just basketball; it was the result of a learning environment that nurtures character, creativity, and a deep love for sport.

A massive thank you to all the parents who gave up part of their holiday to support and bring their children to the finals – we couldn’t have done it without you. And an extra special shout-out to Mr Fairest, who coached both teams with energy, care, and total commitment. A true legend.

Real pride, real passion – and a serious love for the game taking root. The future of basketball at our school is bouncing in the right direction.

Thanks to Mr Rob Fairest for giving up his own time to coach the girls.
