The pupils and our Outdoor Education teachers successfully completed an extraordinary 210km journey through pristine wilderness
The expedition challenged our students through varied terrain in constantly changing weather conditions, from clear blue skies to dramatic blizzards.
They embraced the true spirit of adventure as they stayed in remote cabins and even camped directly on frozen lakes, where they had to drill through ice to collect water for drinking and cooking. As well as looking after themselves, they also had four husky dogs each to care for!
Among the many highlights of their Arctic journey, students were fortunate to witness the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights on several occasions, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
This expedition provided more than just adventure it offered invaluable real-life experiences that developed crucial life skills. Students were pushed to build resilience when facing challenges, strengthen teamwork as they relied on each other in the wilderness, and gain a deeper awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.
The success of this Arctic expedition exemplifies St. David's College's commitment to providing transformative outdoor education experiences that complement academic learning and help develop well-rounded, confident young adults ready to face the challenges of the future.
