St David’s College Celebrates Outstanding GCSE and BTEC Results

Students at St David’s College are celebrating another excellent year of GCSE, BTEC Level 2 and Vocational Award results today.

  • 24.45% of grades achieved were at Distinction*–Distinction / A*–A
  • 85.99% of grades were Distinction*–Merit / A*–C
  • 100% pass rate across all entries

Headmaster Mr Andy Russell said:

“I am immensely proud of this year’s GCSE cohort, not only because a quarter of all grades achieved were at A–A* level, but also because of the determination, resilience, and commitment shown by so many pupils. For some, securing a C grade represents not just an examination result but a life-changing achievement that will shape their future opportunities, and that is equally worthy of celebration. All facilitated by the tireless dedication of their teachers, who have supported them throughout the past two years and prepared them so well for the next stage of their journey.”

As well as collective success, the school is celebrating a significant number of pupils who have excelled in their exams this summer.

Year 11 pupil Amelie Chandran achieved seven A*s and three As and now plans to continue at St David’s Sixth Form to study A-level Psychology, English and Art, while studying for an additional A-level in Law online. Amelie said: “I’m particularly pleased with my grade 7 (A) in Maths, which was one of my hardest subjects.”

Another Amelie, Year 11 pupil Amelie Russell, is similarly delighted with her results. Having achieved ten grade As, Amelie commented: “There are a lot of subjects at GCSE so it’s difficult to put together a revision schedule when there’s so much to revise for, but I’m feeling really good today because I got the grades in the subjects I particularly wanted to do well in, and I worked hard to achieve them.” Amelie plans to stay at St David’s College for Sixth Form to study A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Drama and hopes then to go on to medical school to train to become a doctor.

Olivia Bartwicki in Year 11 achieved A*s in all of her science subjects, amongst a cluster of distinctions, As and Bs in the rest of her GCSEs/BTECs. “I’m pretty happy!”, Olivia said as she emerged from the school’s Minstrel Hall. When asked about the secret of her success, Olivia said: “I paid attention in class and then hammered down on the revision from Easter onwards.” Olivia also plans to remain at St David’s College for the Sixth Form to study A-levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Business.

Congratulations to all Year 11 pupils on their tremendous success this year, many of whom will now continue into the Sixth Form at St David’s College, building on these achievements as they prepare for A Levels, BTECs, and ultimately higher education, apprenticeships and employment. The school is immensely proud of you.
