The Red Arrows, officially the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, are a highly skilled display team known for their precision flying and breathtaking displays
Headboy Oliver met by chance one of the Red Arrow pilots last June at their base RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire and heard the pilot mention that the Red Arrows were celebrating their 60th Anniversary in 2025, just like St David’s.
“I jokingly asked the pilot ‘Red 10’ if they could do a fly-by as my school was also celebrating its Jubilee birthday, and instead of laughing at me he said it was a possibility if they were flying back from RAF Valley,” explained Oliver.
“We got confirmation 48 hours ago that they were staying at Valley and returning to Scotland today, and would do a detour to do a flypast, it was a great moment!”
They flew in perfect formation over the school, much to the delight of everyone, and they were gone in a couple of seconds.
Thanks so much to Oliver for making it all happen!
