Running in the Mountains

Published: 18.01.2024 ( 3 months ago )

We’ve always made the most of our beautiful surroundings through our incredible Outdoor Education provision and activities

One can imagine very few pupils get to enjoy fell running as a weekly activity with a former Team GB runner in the shape of Mr Matthew Roberts, humanities teacher and a very well-known name in fell running.

Usually, the runners run over to Marl Hall, or up the Great Orme in Llandudno, and they’ve had runs from Sychnant Pass over to Conwy Mountain and above the Fairy Glen. However, yesterday’s run was the best yet according to Mr Roberts.

“Ellis and Will enjoyed a great 6km run from above Penmaenmawr, taking in the summit of Craig Hafodwen and Foel Lus,” said Mr Roberts.

He continued: “Temperatures were below freezing, very crisp and cold and in places, icy underfoot, the highlight however were the distant view of the Lake District and the Isle of Man.”
