Badminton star battles it out

Published: 03.05.2023 ( a year ago )

The epic battle took place at the Canolfan Brailsford, Sports Centre in the University of Bangor.

The Wales team had their work cut out for them against three very strong teams.

But the young Welsh badminton stars gave it their best representing their country including our very own Amelie Chandran.

Amelie and her brother Oliver (who is also in the Wales squad) started playing badminton in nearby Bryn Estyn, Deganwy, when they were around nine years old, and very soon made their mark in the Welsh badminton world.

“It was an incredibly tough tournament but also really fun,” said Amelie, in Year 9.

“I played in the mixed doubles and singles and had some great matches.

“There was a real camaraderie amongst our team, and we cheered each other along.

“We stayed at the Premier Inn and had dinner together, I’ve made some great friends.”

Brilliant stuff Amelie!
