Ben Hay to represent the UK
St David’s College would like to congratulate former pupil, Ben Hay, who has been selected to represent the UK in the WorldSkills Mechanical Engineering: CAD competition in Lyon, France.
Ben has worked extremely hard and has fought off stiff competition from a raft of highly talented industrial students from across the UK to win his place.
St David’s is now training up the next cohort of specialists and is hoping to do well in the next round of UK competitions. It is encouraging that so many of our students are keen on Engineering, CAD and Product Design at St David's and we are hopeful of great success in the future.
In the meantime, we have just competed in the Inspiring Skills Wales competition in the Mechanical Engineering: CAD category and are looking forward to the results which will be announced later this year.
We are very proud of our successful track record in technical education, but we are not resting on our laurels. Work is underway to develop our students skills in additive technology and have signed up for a programme that will see this topic appear on the WorldSkills programme very soon.
The DT department is also developing an advanced Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality programme and students are already developing their skills in these areas via our Design and Engineering courses.
