Martin O'Leary, appointed as WJEC Principal Examiner
Congratulations to our Head of Design and Technology, Martin O’Leary who has recently been appointed as WJEC Principal Examiner for A Level Engineering.
At St David’s we are keen to encourage our students in all STEM subjects and have been able to maintain our adoption of the very latest in industrial practices. We have recently expanded our equipment in the areas of pneumatics and electro-pneumatics and have acquired cutting edge equipment to facilitate learning in these areas.
We have introduced a higher / advanced level CADD curriculum (SQA Level 7) that complements the City and Guilds vocational courses that we already deliver; Y12 and Y13 students can now undertake undergraduate level studies whilst still at school. Our students have access to Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and advanced 3D scanning as part of their studies.
Martin’s appointment as Principal Examiner means that he will have a leading role in the way that Engineering is examined at Advanced Level.
