Music maestro Oliver Pearce has landed himself a plum of a role in the West End touring production School of Rock.

Based on the film of the same name starring Jack Black, the piece follows Dewey Finn, a teacher who poses as his best friend to get a job as a schoolteacher. It first opened on Broadway in 2015.

The show features tunes penned by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Julian Fellowes.

Oliver, 11, will play Lawrence, a principal part and the keyboard player in the band in the production and will be on stage at Venue Cymru from November 22nd until 27th and touring all over the UK for at least 6 months. We all at St David’s wish him the very best.

As well as being a talented actor, Oliver is also a gifted musician. He took up the cello at the tender age of four and practices for 45 minutes six days a week. Last term he passed his Grade 7 Cello examination playing a 3/4 sized cello.

Oliver has also passed his grade 5 singing with distinction and grade 5 music theory with distinction and he is in the National Schools Symphony Orchestra of Great Britain.

His brother Thomas, who is also at St David’s College, is a gifted piano player, and Oliver is also now learning to play the piano.
