The Headmaster of SDC has expressed immense pride in students and staff following the publication of the school's outstanding English results, which significantly exceed the national averages for Wales.

The results reveal that 41.9% of students achieved A*A grades in English, compared with the Wales average of 11.8%. Even more remarkably, 100% of SDC students achieved grades A*C, far surpassing the national figure of 54.3%.

Commenting on the results, Headmaster Andrew Russell said:

"These results are truly exceptional and represent a tremendous achievement for our students, staff and wider school community. As a mainstream, non-selective school with a specialism in dyslexia, we are enormously proud that our young people have achieved outcomes that are not only impressive in their own right but are also significantly above the national averages for Wales.

The fact that every single student achieved an A*-C grade in English demonstrates the strength of teaching, the dedication of our staff and, most importantly, the hard work and commitment shown by our students throughout their studies.

To have over 41% of students achieve the very highest A*A grades, compared with a national average of 11.8%, is a remarkable accomplishment. These results show what can be achieved when high expectations, outstanding teaching and determined students come together."

Mr Russell also paid tribute to the English department for its unwavering commitment to ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

"Our English team continually strives for excellence and works tirelessly to support and challenge all learners. These outcomes reflect years of hard work, careful planning and an unwavering belief that all students can succeed, regardless of background or starting point."

The school believes the results demonstrate the success of its inclusive approach to education, where high achievement is expected of all learners and support is tailored to ensure every student can thrive.

"At SDC, we are proud to be a school where opportunity and ambition go hand in hand. These outstanding English results reinforce our belief that non-selective schools can deliver exceptional outcomes and equip young people with the skills and confidence needed for future success."

The school congratulates all students on their achievements and thanks parents, carers and staff whose support has helped make these outstanding results possible.
