Meet our new tennis star
Year 10 pupil Ruby who started playing tennis in Melbourne when she was just three years old, trains four times a week at Rhos on Sea Tennis Club.
This summer she’s looking forward to spending a week at Rafael Nadal’s Tennis Academy in Mallorca, Nadal is one of her favourite tennis players.
“As well as Nadal I’m a big fan of Ash Barty, the Australian tennis player, but sadly she’s recently retired,” said Ruby, 15.
“I love playing tennis and I’m looking forward to the Summer Term at St David’s College when I can play tennis here.”
She added: “I’ve been at St David’s for a couple of years now ever since we moved from Australia, and what I like most about the school is that I feel the teachers take a personal interest in you.
“We get so much support here and the teachers push you forward where you want to be, my teachers in my former school didn’t do that.”
