The Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sport qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.

It provides a broad basis of study for the sport sector.

Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector.

There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic.

Additionally, from this year pupils will be able to select this qualification in two option blocks if they wish to complete the National Diploma in Sport, which is equivalent to two A-Levels.

There will be further mandatory units in Sports Leadership, Investigating Business in Sport in the Active Leisure Industry and Skill Acquisition in Sport, in addition to a range of optional units to choose from.
