Sixth Form off on their Arctic adventure

Published: 02.04.2025 ( 21 days ago )

A group of our intrepid sixth form students are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime in Arctic Sweden

The team will journey along the legendary Kings Trail (Kungsleden) through the pristine wilderness of Lapland, traveling by traditional husky-drawn sleds.

The students will develop an environmental awareness as they navigate the stunning snow-covered landscapes of Kiruna, located well within the Arctic Circle. During their journey, they'll stay in remote wilderness huts, experiencing true isolation in one of Europe's last great wildernesses. They'll learn essential winter survival skills, husky team management, and gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate Arctic ecosystem.

This challenging expedition represents the pinnacle of the St David’s College Outdoor Education program, which progressively develops students' skills from Year 5 onwards. By the time they reach sixth form, our students possess the confidence and capability to undertake significant expeditions in challenging environments with our Outdoor Education Department.

This Arctic Husky expedition highlights the school's philosophy that education extends far beyond the classroom. These experiences foster independence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that serve our students throughout their lives.

We look forward to sharing updates from their Arctic adventure upon their return.
