Heartbreak for the First XV

Published: 17.11.2023 ( 5 months ago )

This year was no exception with a new batch of players in Year 11 taking their first steps onto the pitch at Rendcomb College, Cirencester, playing against the likes of Milton Abbey School, St Edward’s School, and Ewell Castle School

Our First XV always finishes in the top three spots, and this year our players had their eyes coveting the now famous trophy.

The competition was split into two groups of five teams, and we pulled off a very good win in our first game! Unfortunately, a lack of composure or nerves or a combination of both led to a disappointing draw in our second game, and our third we lost, conceding our only try during the entire tournament.

Confectionery contact went to Theo and Logan for a lovely double tackle which sent opposition ball carrier back several metres and was met by cheers from the crowd.

Champagne moment (not paid for by bribery by the headmaster) went to Charlie Russell who finished off the tournament with a lovely interception and run away try though he was hotly contested by Oli Andrews at fullback.

A much-coveted Lion of the Tournament was given to Orlando, who was exemplary in attack and defence in his new and unfamiliar position of outside centre. Well done Orlando and the rest of the Lions!!
