Today St David’s College played host to Rygbi 711 u13s Girls 7s Rugby Tournament. The tournament saw more than 100 girls from schools all over the area come together to compete for the St David’s College Cup.
There were 10 teams in total with 3 teams from Ysgol Brynhyfryd, 2 teams from Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, 2 teams from St David’s College, and a team from each of Ysgol Bro Idris, Ysgol Y Moelwyn, and Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen.
The standard of rugby on show was high with some outstanding performances from all of the schools involved. The overall winners were Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy who edged it in a tightly contested final.
Jess Kavanaugh, 711 Rygbi Director and PE Teacher at St David’s College said “I’m really happy with the way the tournament has gone today. All of the girls turned up with the right attitude and wanted to play rugby. Some of the skills on show were phenomenal considering how young they are. It goes to show there is a lot of talented female rugby players out there in North Wales and it’s a real privilege to see it up close. “
“Huge thanks to St David’s College for hosting and to all the schools for coming”, she went on “and I can’t wait to see you all again next year!”
