St David's College one of the Best Dyslexia Schools

Published: 10.06.2022 ( a year ago )

At St David’s College we strive to use innovative techniques that facilitate learning and association of ideas for any of our pupils.

We believe in people and the global set of their abilities, which is why helping them with dyslexia reaching their maximum potential is part of our DNA and we have become through the years one of the best dyslexia boarding schools in Wales.

The characteristic features of dyslexia are difficulties in phonological awareness, verbal memory and verbal processing speed. Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn't affected, and it's estimated up to 1 in every 10 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia. St David’s College is part of the British Dyslexia Association as silver members and award sponsors of their annual British Dyslexia Association Awards. Today the British Dyslexia Association annual Gala Dinner will be returning to the prestigious Twickenham Rugby Stadium for a memorable evening of entertainment to celebrate their 50th anniversary as well as the best schools for dyslexia. The event will be uplifted by inspiring stories as we recognise individuals and outstanding dyslexia-friendly companies for their commitment and accomplishments. There will be opportunities to network and reconnect with the dyslexic community as we come together in celebration of past, present and future successes in our mission to provide support for those with Dyslexia across the UK.

Many awards will be given and St David’s College are sponsoring the Cadogan Award for Resilience.

At St David’s we are proud to have the Cadogan Centre to support all the pupils with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and dysgraphia. All classroom and wider curriculum teachers have qualifications in multi-sensory teaching techniques, allowing them to tailor their teaching to individual learning styles. All teachers are experienced in supporting pupils with barriers to learning such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.

We have already witnessed with great pride numerous cases of students with difficulties who have flourished and taken advantage of the best of themselves. That is why we are frequently chosen by parents with children with dyslexia from all over the world who are looking for the best dyslexia school with a solid holistic program.

We permanently encouraged all the teachers to explore ideas like using multisensory technique for teaching different subjects that requires to memorise certain terminology such as science, maths, etc… All of this will help inspire and make pupils feel comfortable so that they can maintain their attention. As we say in St David’s College, “Never Give Up”.
