National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week started on Monday and is a week-long celebration of apprenticeships.

It brings together all characters from within the apprenticeship community - employers, training providers, apprentices and young people who are thinking of taking the apprenticeship path.

Apprenticeships are a great work-based qualification route. They combine academic study with on the job training, enabling apprentices to gain industry-specific skills, work experience, a nationally recognised qualification and get paid in the process.

St David’s College Head of Sixth Form, Owen Davis, commented: “This is a week dedicated to highlighting the importance of apprenticeships, as an alternative to university, as a post-18 option for St David's College pupils.

“Our year 11s and Sixth Form Sports candidates will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Achieve More on Wednesday to hear about the local Sport Apprenticeship opportunities.”

Throughout the week there will also be several national virtual events that pupils and parents can attend.
