What did you do today? Sign Language!

St. David's College is extremely excited to have introduced a new British Sign Language activity. British Sign Language is used by around 150,000 people in the UK, 87,000 of whom are deaf.

In the two activities they've had so far, the pupils have learnt the alphabet, how to introduce themselves, and how to ask others their names. They have also learnt to sign where they are from and ask other people where they come from.

Brian, Callum and Matthew have really impressed their teacher, Mrs Turner: 'The boys have picked up signing really quickly. They remember the signs a lot more easily than I had anticipated. I had to go to night school when I was 15 to learn; we didn't have activities in my school like this. I'm sure I wasn't as quick to learn as they are, either! I'm really looking forward to continuing to sign with them and providing them with a skill that they can take away and use outside of St. David's College.'

In the videos, the boys introduce themselves and ask you what your name is.

St. David's College has continued to offer a vast number of activities in line with current social distancing requirements, enabling pupils to flourish in all areas of school life.
