Virtually Perfect Harvest Festival

We have been looking at a way we might be able to have a more interactive and ‘physical’ Harvest Festival. The reality is that it is simply not possible within the current guidelines and arena of common sense.

The plan is that we are going to have a Harvest theme for the virtual full school Assembly on Monday 28th September. We will have a ‘Live Studio’ production with Years 5 & 6 as a live audience in the main Assembly Hall. There will be a live socially distanced band who will perform a song and Year 5 & 6 are producing an imaginative Harvest Prayer video.

There will also be a live discussion between Sim and Sei our Chaplaincy Interns on the importance of our support for the Food Bank and the value of compassionate outreach as a school. We are aiming for 15-20 minutes and we hope that we will be able to post the recorded version on our YouTube Channel.

We are hoping for a large combined school donation for the Conwy Food Bank. Here is a list of some of their needs:

· Tinned cold meats

· Tinned meals (eg Chicken in white wine sauce, Spag Bol, Chilli Con Carne)

· Meat Pies

· Dried Pasta in Sauce

· Savoury Rice

· Snack Shots

· Tinned Hot Dogs

· Packet Mash

· Tinned Potatoes

· Tins of Tuna

· Tinned Fruit

· Rice Pudding

· Jelly

· Angel Delight

· Biscuits and Treats

· Jam / Marmalade

· Freeze Dried Coffee

· Sugar

There will be a ‘collection gazebo’ on the lawn in front of the Bursar’s Office, just as you turn onto the forecourt and the Food Bank is collecting the produce between 9.30/10.00am on the Monday morning. If Year 5/6 could please take their produce to the classroom as we would like to use their contribution as the ‘studio display’.

We know that after the disappointing news that EXEAT has been cancelled, boarders may not necessarily be able to supply some of these items. For this reason, we have set up a Harvest Festival payment option on Parent Pay. This gives parents the opportunity to make a donation in order for the school to purchase food for the Conwy Foodbank. Parent pay can be accessed here: www.parentpay.co.uk

Donations to be made by Monday 28th September 2020. New parents who do not yet have a username and password, please contact Mary Owens on: mowens@stdavidscollege.co.uk
