Tryfan does it again

For the second year running Tryfan shined the brightest at the annual house play competition with their often raucous adaptation of the panto classic Dick Whittington.

But it was almost too close to call as Cader's heart-warming production of Cinderella only lost by two points, having been given an impressive score of 83.

Snowdon's Sleeping Beauty might have been in third place, but its colourful production gave the eager audience plenty of laughs on the night.

Hannah, Tryfan's House Captain, set designer and director of Dick Whittington said: "I think we made it harder for ourselves as the play is not a story that everyone knows as well as the other panto classics."

She continued: "All the houses work extremely hard over the four weeks we have to rehearse and the pressure is very much on."

"On the night there are a lot of nerves and excitement added with quite a bit of exhaustion."

"For Tryfan to win two year's on the run is really incredible and makes all the hard work worthwhile," added Hannah.

"I think we may have just clinched it as we had four songs in our production, and we interacted quite a lot with the audience with the water gun and the sweet throwing."

The houses were marked on vocal characterisation, vocal clarity and diction, physical characterisation and movement, costumes and use of panto conventions.
