Tom's Ticket to Ride

Since the age of 10 Tom Rogowski has played the guitar with his band “Mad Haven”, and from an early age was into performing and song writing.

Through performing at various venues and attending recording sessions at a selection of different studios, he also started to develop an interest in Live Sound and Studio Production.

When he started Sixth Form at St David’s College, Tom knew by then he wanted to study Production Arts and get involved with as many productions as he could.

During his two years studying a diploma in Production Arts, the 18-year-old gained lots of experience in Live Sound and Sound Design.  Tom also enjoyed working with the Drama Department on two of the school productions at the local theatres as well as preparing and running the sound for House Plays, Band Nights, Christmas Carol Services, Christmas Concerts, Assemblies, and a local, outdoor music festival.

Tom said: “Mr Cogger who taught me Production Arts is a great teacher and is always very supportive and encouraging.  He would quite often use his free time to teach us more about how to set up and operate different types of industry standard equipment as well as how to repair broken equipment and so on.

“The experience I gained from studying a Production Arts Diploma has been a valuable asset to be able to put onto my CV and Personal Statement.”

After attending an interview at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) in early January, Tom was delighted to receive a letter last week offering him a place to study a degree in sound technology there from this September.

As for Mad Haven the band is going from strength to strength and has been signed to an Independent Record Label based in the Midlands.

“We have also played several gigs all over the UK including festivals in Cannock & Scotland as well as SOLD OUT shows in Chester and our local home town venue,” said Tom.

Already planned for this year is a UK tour playing in 300 – 600 capacity venues and festivals in Nuneaton, Buckley, Stoke on Trent, London, Great Yarmouth, Chester, Cannock, Manchester, Scotland and Northwich.
