Project Based Learning Winners

Project winners

Learning at SDC is more than having a good knowledge of a subject or memorising enough facts to pass an exam. It is about using real-life skills such as literacy, numeracy and digital literacy to become independent thinkers who are able to innovate and be creative in their work. The recently-introduced project-based learning homework aims to help students to develop and showcase their abilities in all of these areas. Last half term, pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 were challenged with researching, planning and describing a trip to a Spanish-speaking country.

The tasks were organised into three levels of difficulty and pupils were given the choice of which tasks they wanted to complete. Many pupils completed far more than the minimum required and the results were truly outstanding! There were so many incredible trips planned to diverse and interesting places such as the Galapagos Islands, Chile, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Most pupils also seized the opportunity to experiment with Microsoft OneNote by inserting videos, links and audio recordings into their project. Choosing a winner in each year group was a tough job but Thomas Pearce, James Taylor and Erin Moore just about pipped the others to the post! Well done, everyone! ¡Buen trabajo!
