Christmas Star Decoration Appeal

This year, St David’s College pupils have chosen to support local charity Tŷ Gobaith for their Christmas decoration appeal. During Art classes with Ms. Hughes and Mr. Scarff and Activities with Mrs. Stevenson, pupils have been painting wooden stars to take home this Christmas.

In her lessons, Ms. Hughes showed pupils Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’ as a theme for their star painting. This poignant source of inspiration depicts the view from the window of Van Gogh's asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village and was painted when he was unwell. The bright stars in the sky represent hope and a message that there is a promise of light even in the darkest of times. The inspiration taken from the most valuable painting in the world has created amazing results.

Tŷ Gobaith is a local hospice for families with poorly children. The hospice based in Conwy cares for babies, children, young people, and young adults who have life-threatening conditions and are not expected to live beyond 25 years. The PTA is donating £150 towards this event and parents are kindly making additional donations to support the appeal.
