Bushcraft lessons in full swing

This week, our Outdoor Education department led some of our Year 12 boys in some bushcraft training sessions. The boys were taught the basics of fire building, lighting, and building shelter to protect against the conditions.

As Outdoor education is part of the curriculum (delete- all years) here at St David’ College, we aim to give all of our pupils the opportunities to experience the outdoors and understand our environment. The stunning grounds and closeness of Snowdonia National Park give St David’s College the perfect playground for learning in a safe and friendly environment.

Head of Outdoor Education, Ian Martin said “We love getting out and about with the pupils. The natural environment we have right here on our doorstep really is second to none, we’re incredibly lucky. The skills we’re passing on to the children are not only good to use in the field but transferable to other parts of life too. We push the fact that they should appreciate the incredibly rich biodiversity we have in North Wales and take some time to explore.
