Amelie's Wales call-up

Our rising badminton star has been called up by Wales for the first time to play in the Celtic Challenge 2020 tournament.

The 10-year-old will fly to Belfast in February to play badminton teams from Ireland and Scotland.

Amelie, who lives in Deganwy, started playing badminton just two and a half years ago.

She trains with her brother, Oliver, at the badminton club in their village. They train twice a week and have since taken part in tournaments across Wales, often playing doubles together.

"I love playing as it's fun, and I like the tournaments as you can learn from the other players on how to improve," she said.

"I'm excited to be playing for Wales and am looking forward to getting my new kit."
