A Farewell - Head Boy and Girl 2017/18

Head boy Euan Williams has eyes set on joining the Royal Navy, hoping to become an aircraft handler.

He joined in Year 6, the same day as head girl Kiani, and immediately settled in as a boarder.

“I’ve loved my time at the school and as a boarder as you’ve always got your friends around you,” he said.

“I targeted in Year Seven to become head boy when the then Snowdon Captain Jake Rooney told me I had it in me to become both Snowdon Captain and head boy.

“I’ve always made sure I’ve got involved with things, been approachable and not to get distracted by the wrong things.”

He continued: “The highlights have been the life-long friendships I’ve made over the years, the relationship the pupils have with the teachers and playing in the first XV rugby team.”

Euan added: “I don’t think there is any other school like St David’s, it’s a very special place.”

Head girl Kiani Geldard’s advice to anyone joining St David’s is to make the most out of all the “amazing” opportunities on offer.

The 18-year-old who is set to jet off for a year’s travelling with her boyfriend, says her time at SDC has flown by. She joined in Year 6, when Emily Watson was head girl, and says that she knew then she wanted to follow in her footsteps.

“Emily was just everything I wanted to be. She could turn her hand to anything, was friendly and approachable,” said Kiani.

“When I think of a head girl that’s who I think about.”

Kiani is well known at the school for being one of the star performers in school productions and at the Carol Service. She’s performed since the age of five when her mother encouraged her to join theatre school, concerned that her daughter was so painfully shy.

Following her adventures abroad Kiani will return to Bangor University or Manchester University to study neuroscience.

“I’ve had so many incredible experiences at St David’s, the Year 10 kayaking trip to Sweden was something I’ll never forget and going husky sledging at the beginning of the year was also a memory I will forever treasure,” said the Anglesey native.
