Meet Next Year's Head Girl

We’d like to congratulate Ella Tuck and Max Dunford for being chosen to be next year’s Headgirl and Headboy.

The pair went through a vigorous interview process, having had to write a letter explaining why they wanted the roles, and then were interviewed by school head Andrew Russell alongside current Headboy Euan Williams and Kiani Geldard.

Many of their peers also applied for the honour, but Ella and Max just managed to pip them after giving impressive interviews.

Day pupil Ella joined the school in year seven and says from the very start she always coveted the role of Headgirl.

The 17-year-old English Literature, Drama and psychology student said: “It was ever since Jess Pugh was Headgirl, I very much looked up to her and wanted to be like her.

“I want to be a good example to the little ones, and I want to be seen as an approachable person.”

She continued: “I love this school and am very much looking forward to become an ambassador for St David’s.

“The school has helped me flourish. When I first came here I hated maths because I just found it so difficult, but with the teachers help I managed to pass it and now actually even enjoy it!”

“I regard the community at St David’s as my second family, I’m very lucky to have come here.”

Welsh-speaking Ella recently shone in the school production Battle of Boat, playing the leading lady. She is no stranger to performing, having taken part in Eisteddfod’s whilst at primary school and was a member of the choir Cor Glanaethwy, famous for being finalists of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. She’s also a karate expert, having won the Open British Championships when she was 13-years-old beating competitors who were three years older than her.

She has a strong work ethic, working two jobs-waitressing in a local café and in a fish and chip takeaway.

“I save it all, so that I can perhaps get a deposit together for a house or maybe go travelling when I leave school,” she said.

“I’m honoured to have been chosen to be Headgirl, and I’m determined to do the very best I can.”
