The school is celebrating after being awarded the best for extra-curricular activities by the Independent Schools Association.
The ISA has 506 members of the best independent schools in the world.
SDC has invested heavily in an extensive extra-curricular programme that makes the provision unbeatable, enabling our pupils to develop core skills and thrive as successful young people. With 25 different activities a week delivered every day, the emphasis is on enjoyment, but there is also added value in all activities offered. Opportunities on offer include: KIT car building, silent flight, wakeboarding, chess club, F1 in Schools, Round Table public speaking competition, 4x4 driving on the school’s woodland track, shooting on the school’s rifle range, capoeira, martial arts and photography to name but a few… (and we mustn’t forget to mention Quidditch for the Harry Potter fans!) The activities programme is designed to help pupils find and develop their gifts and talents, and is also paired with the school’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme as a chance for pupils to achieve their skill, sport and volunteering sections. In fact, 10 St. David’s College pupils were at Buckingham Palace this year to receive their Gold Award. All of St. David’s College’s pupils are given this opportunity to build their confidence in who they are as young people in the 21st century.
Extra-curricular trips are also available at the weekends for pupils with the Outdoor Education department and run on both Saturdays and Sundays. Equally, holiday trips are available and include excursions such as husky sledging, surfing, skiing and hill walking. Pupils are given the opportunity to try things that many people only dream of doing and certainly the staff at St. David’s College are fighting for the opportunity to go with them!
We are very proud of this ISA award, and we salute our staff who make it all happen.
