Lecturers from University of Wales Trinity St David, came to SDC this week to give pupils a product design workshop.
The aim of the university’s product design programme is to creatively give the knowledge and desire to design and innovate mass customised consumer products, systems and services.
“The workshop was really interesting,” said Rebecca Lawrence-Jones, who is set to go to Swansea University in September to study product design.
“We bandaged our hands to limit the use of our fingers, to make us feel what it is like to be arthritic.
“It gave us a first-hand practical experience, so that we had an understanding of the difficulties people living with arthritis face in everyday tasks.”
Rebecca continued: “This type of research made us think of products that could be designed to help people.”
