Congratulations to Freya Jones and Louis Dalton who represented the school in the regional World Skills Mechanical Engineering: CAD competition at the brand new multi-million-pound STEM Centre in Llangefni.
Our Year 12 students were pitted against seasoned Mechanical Engineering apprentices, each with three years of industrial experience under their belts. Both of our students held their own in a competition that consisted of some extremely challenging tasks.
Martin O’Leary, Head of Design and Technology said: “I’m so very proud of both of them.”
He added: “They represented the school in a very professional way and is hopeful that they may stand a chance of reaching the UK finals next year.”
The competition focused on the essential requirements for a successful career in Mechanical Engineering specialising in CAD. Competitors were tested on performance using CAD to produce 2D technical drawings, 3D models and 3D assemblies. Competitors were also required to produce animations coupled with a full understanding of BS/ISO drawing.
Year 12 Louis Dalton also took part in the competition, which focuses on mechanical engineering.
