At St David's we like to support our pupils in whatever opportunities they want to explore, and that even goes for those who have already left.
This week it was nice to see former pupil Joe Fisher drop by to catch up with his former art teacher Mari Hughes, who inspired him to study fine art.
The 19-year-old is currently doing an arts foundation course at Bangor University, but hopes to go on and study fine art at Bristol University. Joe was able to use the art space at St David's to prepare his work and gain some last minute advice before his interview for Bristol University.
“When I was at school I was always in the art room, and Miss Hughes was the one that really encouraged me to go on and study art,” said Joe, who is also kept busy being the bass guitarist in the band Mad Heaven.
“At Bangor I’m currently working on a project to internally decorate Pontio, the arts centre in Bangor, when a music festival is being held later this year-the theme we’ve been given is acoustics so it’s quite a challenging project.”
Following his degree Joe wants to go on and study for a PGCE, let's hope he chooses his old school for his work teaching work experience.
