Congratulations to our students who have once again achieved some excellent results this Summer.
At A’ Level and Level 3 BTEC- 67% of pupils achieved grades A*-C, with 33% of students gaining an A*-A grade.
We also celebrated another year of excellent GCSE and BTEC Level 2 results with 81.5% of students gaining grade A* to C passes, with an impressive 24% gaining A* to A grades.
These impressive results are a credit to our hardworking students and the teaching staff and they should all be proud of their achievements.
GCSE and Level 2 highlights includes a 93% English pass rate, six multiple A* pupils and we had a 17% higher pass rate than the national average.
Top leavers destination in 2018 includes Industrial Design and Technology at Loughborough University, marketing management at Manchester Metropolitan University and psychology and neuropsychology at Bangor University.
Mark Turner Head of Studies at SDC said: “It is a very exciting time for the school and this is reflected in this year’s school results.”
“It is a team effort with the pupils and staff, with many of the teachers giving a lot of their free time to help make sure the students achieve their full potential.
“I’m confident our results will improve year-on-year, and we are becoming increasingly known as an academic school.”
SDC is investing heavily in information and communications technology (ICT), with Mr Turner saying it will mean pupils will gain access to more resources outside lessons and become more independent in their learning.
“Microsoft is advising us about bringing Office 365 software into the school,” explained Mr Turner, who has taught at St David’s for nine years.
“We’ve already got people like Andrew Bohana our maths teacher doing video tutorials, so that if a pupil is slightly confused after the maths lesson they can watch the tutorial later and we’ve already had good feedback about this.”
