Snowdon House came from being in last place to clinch this year’s Swimming Gala, in what was a memorable evening full of some brilliant individual and team efforts.
The event is always one of the highlight’s in the school’s calendar, as Cader, Tryfan and Snowdon do battle in Llandudno’s swimming pool.
At St David’s College we are lucky enough to have a school packed with some great swimmers, and they really shone this year. There were some notable performances from the likes of Sean in Year 8, Summer and George in Year 13.
But the evening belonged to Snowdon who came from behind to win one of the prestigious House Cups.
Snowdon House Girls Captain Valerie said: “It was really a fantastic feeling to come from behind and actually win the Swimming Gala.”
“The atmosphere was amazing, and it was an incredible team effort. I think Mr Demery has lost his voice from all the cheering!”
She added: “I love being part of Snowdon, it’s like we are one big family. We went into the gala to have some fun, but we smashed it and I’m so proud of us all.”
Dan, Snowdon House Boys Captain joked: “We may be the quietest House during these big events, but we are the quiet and deadly one.”
“As a House we always come together for the big events, and I’d like to give a special mention to Lois who agreed to do butterfly when she wasn’t so keen, and Cerys in Year 5 who was also fantastic.”
Snowdon House celebrated with pizza and drinks at the house afterwards.
In second place was Tryfan House, and in third was Cader. Well done to all competitors.
