Ben, from Year 6, who describes himself as “small and nifty” shone at the recent ISA Cross County event taking place at Scarisbrick Hall, in Lancashire, coming seventh out of over 100 runners.
It means the 11-year-old from Anglesey will be eligible to take part in the Nationals taking place later this year at Rugby School. Ben travelled with a group of fellow nifty runners from SDC.
He said: “We walked the course first with our teacher Mr Asbury, and I was a bit disappointed to see there weren’t many hills.”
“As I like running up hills as everyone slows down and I can overtake people!”
“It was a very muddy course and I noticed lots of trainers were stuck in the mud without their owners, which was quite funny,” Ben continued.
“There were lots of taller runners than me, but luckily I’m a small and nifty runner.”
He added: “Am excited to have qualified for the Nationals, my parents are very proud.”
“I didn’t do any running like this in my former school.”
