When the Scotland national under-20 rugby team were looking for a secluded location to train before playing Wales, they chose SDC’s picturesque playing fields.
The team’s bus arrival caused quite a stir amongst pupils and staff and was a day to remember for the school’s rugby team who meet the players and had photographs taken with them.
SDC’s head of sport Dan Lycett said: “Through our contacts with RGC the team contacted us about doing their Captain’s Run here.
“The Captain’s Run is the training session run by the captain before a big game. The coach does not have any input in the session as the captain decides what needs to be done.”
Mr Lycett continued: “They were here for a couple of hours, making some of our Scottish pupils’ day by posing for photographs and chatting with our first XV.
“The manager said they thought the pitch was fantastic. He watched the session along with his staff from the 19thtth century battlements.”
