Saturday activities aren't all about going out and getting muddy, some of our pupils take the time to expand their creative potential and challenge their brains too.
Chloe in Year 11, who has been working on portrait photography, said "It's amazing to be able to use all this professional equipment, it's the reason I love to come in on Saturday". Jade, also Year 11, joked, "I just like to be painted!" and added, "During the week we are so busy, Saturday gives us the space to explore our ideas with staff in a relaxed atmosphere."
As well as the creative arts, St David's has an active gaming community. Matthew in Year 13 said "I love my rugby but I also like gaming and that's what I find amazing about the weekend. One week I could be playing rugby for Colwyn Bay and the next I'm playing Magic the Gathering and Disney Infinity with other gamers. Not a lot other schools have that range of opportunities."
Some of the Sixth Form also use the time to work on their projects. Mitzi in Year 12 said "What's really useful is to have time with (the DT teacher) Mr O'Leary where I can bounce ideas off him in a relaxed environment. Although we are in school it doesn't feel like a school day and I take my time to experiment with my project."
