SDC recently helped pupils at a Llandudno primary school who were taking part in the Formula 1 challenge.
Spanning age ranges of nine to 19 the Formula 1 challenge main objective is to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, Formula 1, science, marketing and technology.
F1 in Schools raises awareness of STEM and Formula 1 among students and school children in every region, in every country, on every continent.
Ysgol Bodafon pupils had to build their own model cars, race them, market the team, create a portfolio and give a presentation-no mean feat for nine to 11-year-olds.
They also needed sponsors and SDC were only too happy to oblige.
Mr O’Leary head of design and technology helped them a little with the design of the garage for the F1 cars.
Ysgol Bodafon beat a raft of schools from all over North Wales to win the regional heat. Congratulations to them! These enterprising and creative pupils will be taking part in the national F1 Schools finals in Birmingham later this year. We wish them luck.
