BTEC Student of the Year Rachna Udasi, helped launch the 2019 BTEC awards in Birmingham.
In the summer Rachna beat thousands of other students to be awarded not only BTEC Business and Enterprise Student of the Year, but also the BTEC Student of the Year award.
The 18-year-old former SDC pupil, is now studying business and economics at Royal Holloway University, in London.
She launched the 2019 BTEC awards alongside BBC presenter Steph McGovern, who champions BTEC qualifications.
Matt Gower, head of school communications attended the Association of Colleges Annual Conference where the awards were launched, and enjoyed catching up with Rachna.
“Rachna is a fabulous ambassador for not only St David’s College but for the BTEC
awards,” said Matt.
“She spoke on stage passionately about how she strongly believes she got more through her BTEC qualifications as it’s a more vocational way of learning, to her A’levels.”
Matt continued: “She impressed the whole room, and I was asked afterwards by people in the conference if we had lots of students that turned out like Rachna.”
“It was fantastic to see her, and she had dashed to Birmingham after completing a mid-term exam in the morning.”
Rachna won BTEC Student of the Year Award after using her budding entrepreneurial skills to set up a coffee supply business to help Ugandan children struggling with dyslexia.
