There is no rest for our hard-working estates department as we continue with our exciting and ambitious development plans to improve and expand our facilities for all.
Over the past two years St David's College has developed a well-received new Sixth Form Study Centre, improvements have been made to modernise the main school corridor and both the Cadogan and Solar Centres. During the Summer we’ve vastly improved the reception area and the waiting rooms making them more user friendly. Bathroom facilities for the pupils are also currently being refurbished.
Estates manager Paul Gibson said: “We have also continued with our bedroom and dormitory refurbishment programme, with both Cader and Tryfan houses both included in the latest programme of work.”
Mr Gibson continued: “We’ve also just completed a major refurbishment of the forecourt area, including new footpaths, new stone archway, cast bollards and wrought iron railings, importantly this will greatly improve the safety of the everyone, including, pupils, staff and visitors.”
However, our most exciting project that has just got underway is this week is the extension of our girls boarding facility- Augusta House. Working with local architects and planners we are excited to reveal a 16-bed extension to the existing building. Best Construction Limited has been appointed as the main contractor and the work has an estimated completion date of April 2020.
“The work includes the replacement of the existing heating and hot water systems, all lighting will be recessed giving a flush modern look to the bedrooms, corridors and stairwell, with newly fitted modern bedroom furniture,” said an excited Mr Gibson.
He added: “It will be a superb boarding facility when completed.”
