The St Davids College 1stXV made their now yearly trek to the beautiful Cotswolds to participate in the Johnny Wilkinson Cup. The competition is always fierce and the players are well aware of the high standard of opposition.
This year saw tough opposition again, but the Lions weren't phased by the task ahead. Lead by Co-Captains Goodwin & Mair the Lions hit their straps early and played well in poor conditions, carrying with aggression and power, yet still playing the ball wide through Mace & Roberts who continue to pull the strings at the back.
The trip also saw year Elevens Thomas and Gillet flourish playing like seasoned 1stXV players.
The boys finished with figures of W3 L2 D1 finishing 3rd.
Tour awards were:
Harribo Hit went to Cotterell who punished several slow pass from opposition 9’s by hammering the fly half’s! Though several players put their hands up for this award.
Champagne moment went to Charlie Mace who finished a move that started on the Lions try line.
Lion of the tournament went to Best, who lived up to his name by performing at a Stella level throughout.
The Lions travel to Bala on Wednesday for a Welsh cup match.
