St David’s College is proud to introduce to you our first ever International Ambassadors for the school.
Giulietta and Nicolas, from 6th Form, have taken on the roles to help our overseas pupils settle in more quickly.
Croatian born Giulietta, who lives with her family when she’s not at school in the South of France, said: “The roles have been especially created for Nicolas and I, and we were only too pleased to take them on as we both understand how daunting it can be to move to another country and start a new school.”
The Year 13 pupil continued: “We know what it is like to feel homesick and so are keen to help overseas students however we can in any way.”
Nicolas, who is Swiss-Canadian, said: “Adapting to a new culture can be very difficult, at first I found it quite hard to understand British humour, and house competitions and so on as it was so different to what I was used to at school in Switzerland, and the food can be very different to what international students are used to.”
The pair will help new international students settle in to their new home at the school and will be available to offer support and help. It is hoped that every year two students will be chosen for the role and for it to become a permanent.
