Following an unforgettable trip with the school to Uganda over the summer holidays where she taught college students how to cook simple dishes, Hannah is now setting her sights on helping people closer to home.
The 17-year-old baked cakes, made pizza and spaghetti bolognaise with college students in Uganda-and her dishes proved to be a big hit.
But Hannah says she now wants to help families who receive food parcels from Conwy Food Bank, in Colwyn Bay. Only last month 82 families from the county benefitted from the service.
Hannah, who is in Year 13 and studying BTEC Level three in Business, Applied Science and Geography, said: “Obviously there are hungry people in Africa, but there are people who go without food on our own doorsteps too.
“I am looking to develop a partnership with parents, our staff, pupils and the Conwy Food Bank in Colwyn Bay, who are in need of help.”
Hannah, from Buckinghamshire, continued: “I’m very interested in food science and cooking, and I’m hoping as the year goes on that as well as donating food I’d also like to give simple recipes with the food, so the recipients can learn to make tasty and nutritious food using the food in the parcels.”
Hannah has emailed a letter to all parents hoping for their support, and says she’s already delighted by the response she has received so far.
She said: “I would very much appreciate it if people can consider adding one or two of the items Conwy Food Bank have listed to their next shop.”
