Curriculum

A sample of AS/A-level subject choices has already been listed, but I’m looking at our separate, 6th Form prospectus and thinking 'wow, if only I'd had these opportunities'. Even if you’ve achieved only moderate success at GCSE, you have the chance, now, to make up for it.

Curriculum Just as examples, the rich and diverse range of subjects in the Art department offers you everything from drawing and painting, through graphic design, sculpture and photography to critical & historical studies; you’re encouraged to explore your imagination and devise your own projects for presentation to examiners. In the Performing Arts, drama and music have leapt ahead in recent years, leading to Associated Board and LAMDA qualifications. Business Studies, Geography, the Humanities, ICT, Languages, Maths and the Sciences all have their place at St David's; if these are your strengths, we will give you every opportunity to achieve your optimum grades.

Curriculum Apart from mainstream academic subjects, we have a particular expertise in Computer Aided Design (CAD), leading to career areas that include all aspects of design: Engineering & Architecture, Animation, TV & Video Broadcasting, Web Design, Computer Games Design, Technical Illustration – it goes on. In our state-of-the-art Lennard Centre, CAD sits alongside our Design & Technology multi-media workshops, housing the latest in both software and the more traditional equipment associated with manufacturing; the emphasis is on 'quality', so that you can see and handle products that are well-made. And so can examiners whom, we understand, enjoy coming to St David's to experience the high standard of our students' output, often to degree level.

But it's not all about the latest technology. What of those of you who want a career in the great outdoors ? With our pedigree, we can offer you a BTEC National Award in Sport – Outdoor Education, the equivalent of one full A-level, qualifying for UCAS points; taken with other subjects, you’re on your way to university. Or is your strength in sport ? Similarly, a BTEC award is available here, too, offering the same qualification benefits.

So, you're spoilt for choice and we will guide you into the most appropriate options for your capabilities and intended career. Throughout your courses, the support of our specialist staff in the Cadogan Centre will be available for those with learning difficulties.
